LG ThinQ G7 got a b in maintainability

Craftsmen known resource iFixit has devoted his attention to the new flagship smartphone LG Electronics — they dismantled and evaluated the maintainability G7 LG ThinQ, published in may.

On a ten point scale of maintainability G7 LG ThinQ scored a modest 4 points. However, this puts him on a par with the Huawei P20 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S9+ other flagships this year.

Interestingly, the previous generation of flagships LG experts iFixit ignored, the latest model for G series, which they dissected for the amusement of the audience had a smartphone LG G5. This modular smartphone has received as many as 8 out of 10 possible points. Last year’s LG G6 modularity have already lost, as, indeed, LG G7.

Of the benefits specialists iFixit noted the possibility of independent replacement of many components. The battery can be replaced, but it is difficult to remove because it is glued to the rear panel. Front and rear panel is also firmly glued, which makes difficult access to the internals. They are both glass, which increases the risk to break the smartphone. As one of the main drawbacks, there is the complexity of screen replacement. This is the most common type of repair, however, this would require almost completely disassemble the smartphone, fighting together with a solid glue.
