With every passing day the popularity of virtual reality is growing. And the good news is the fact that the developers are not sitting idly by and develop technology. For example, Disney in collaboration with scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of technology (MIT) have created a special jacket, which can provide the user with the physical sensation.
As reported by the developers, the gadget is able to transmit up to 10 sensations: pressure, touch, punch, hug, and others, to the extent that the jacket can transmit the sensation of crawling over the body of a snake. The operation principle is quite simple: inside of the gadget located sensors and 26 special air chambers that are controlled directly by the computer. When in the virtual space a character interacts with objects (e.g., touches a wall) or objects interact with him (a blow to the body), sensors to locate the place where the interaction occurred, and the air valves receive a signal to activate certain cushion, which creates a simulation of the sensations.
Of course, to fully capture the sensation is still far, and the creators say their invention does not completely simulate the contact with virtual reality, but it provides an even greater level of immersion in virtual worlds. At the moment significant disadvantages of the device include is that weight in 2 kilograms, which will be difficult to keep children, as well as the lack of accurate data on the receipt of the device on sale and its price. But the principle of operation of VR-jacket you can see on the video, available below.
