Chinese scientists have developed nanorobots that could fight cancer

Scientists from the China center of nanoscience and technology say they have managed to create and test the world’s first Autonomous DNA nanorobots, capable of confronting malignant tumors. Each nanorobot is very small and cannot be seen with the naked eye. The size of nanobots to 5000 times smaller than the tip of the needle, — reports the news Agency Xinhua.

The robot on the basis of DNA has a tubular structure, and its length is only about 90 nanometers. The diameter of the baby — 19 nanometers. Due to its design the nanobots will help conduct research and will be to find the tumor, and then block the blood supply to malignant tumors. After that, the tumor will begin to break down after a few weeks or even days, such results are received, a team of researchers in testing new robots. Nanobots injected mice and the results showed a significant decrease and often complete regression of the tumor over several days or weeks.

According to scholar Zhao Ulana, the research team has also conducted extensive studies of the security of nanorobots including miniature pigs, which are physiologically and anatomically similar to humans.

“Unlike chemotherapy and radiation, nanobots, DNA is able to treat tumors without damaging surrounding healthy tissue. The nanorobots do not accumulate in the brain and thus do not create the risk of stroke,” said Zhao.

Now scientists are conducting preclinical studies and hope to translate this revolutionary technology to the status of a viable anticancer therapy.
