Tokyo will build a wooden 70-storey skyscraper

The Japanese company, Sumitomo Forestry announced its plans to build in Tokyo for a 70-story skyscraper made of wood last year, and recently finally presented a detailed plan for the construction of this extraordinary building. According to preliminary calculations, its construction the company will spend about $ 5.5 billion and has 185,000 cubic metres of wooden building materials.

Skyscraper with a height of 350 meters will be the first 70-storey wooden building. Now the maximum height of wooden houses in Japan do not exceed seven floors, so the project is unique in its kind. Construction of a skyscraper is reinforced steel frame — this will enable it to withstand earthquakes.

The total building area of 450 000 square meters, which will house offices, hotels and apartments. The authors of the project promise to decorate the interior decorative waterfalls and refractory plants. The materials spent on construction of this skyscraper would be enough for eight thousand standard wooden houses, which usually raises the Sumitomo Forestry on its standard projects.

Before you start building the 70-storey skyscraper, the builders will create a reduced copy of the height of fourteen floors — this will allow more time to carefully figure out all the nuances of a design and identify its weaknesses. The construction will be finished by 2041.
