Designed chip that will allow IoT devices to connect to the blockchain

Company Filament designs for the Internet of things in 2012. Among the startup’s investors include Intel Capital, Samsung NEXt and many other companies, thanks to which the developers were able to attract investments in the amount of $ 22 million. Filament recently introduced a new product — the microchip to the blockchain that allows any industrial device to interact with the various technologies of the distributed registry.

Developed Blocklet chip allows you to record sensor data directly on the blockchain. It can be data necessary for the execution of contracts and transactions. According to the developers, their new chip will be able to be potentially useful in electronic Commerce and open to entrepreneurs the potential of the Internet of things.

For example, the sensor can be connected to a cargo container, and then send it to the customer, and the chip on a rolling to a certain point, will contact the owner or the sender, locking its state and location in the circuit. In addition, in the future he will be able to pay customs duties and do other small but important things, releasing buyer and seller from unnecessary worries.

In addition, such sensors will be able to collect different data, for example, clinging to the weather stations to obtain information about the weather conditions. Then the data array can be sold to interested customers.

While the chip itself and the software necessary for its proper work, is at the initial stage of testing in the laboratory, but Blocklet is already beginning to look for partners who will help to test their development in “field” conditions.
