Wireless charger WattUp operates at a distance up to 4 meters

Engineers for quite some time trying to create such a charger that will allow people to once and for all get rid of the wires and the constant need to be near an outlet. Given how much in our lives all kinds of gadgets and electronic devices, we somehow have to regularly recharge them in order to stay updated on the latest news, and not part with your favorite music. New battery charger WattUp developed under the startup Energous that allows you to recharge through the air several gadgets at a distance of over 4 meters.

The California company Energous not only designed the device (work on it began back in 2014), but even received approval from the Federal communications Commission (FCC), so it could without any problems to release it on sale in North America. Wireless charging means no wires and the need to position your devices for specific sites, as is the case with some models of modern smartphones. The gadget just needs to be in the range WattUp to its battery recharged.

Of course, this system works by converting electricity into radio waves, therefore each charger must be equipped with an appropriate receiver, which in the future manufacturers can embed into their products. Also need support devices standard charging Wireless Charging 2.0. To date, the maximum radius of the charger reaches 4.5 meters (the most effectively it works at a distance up to 1 meter). It is not excluded that Energous will eventually be able to improve this figure. The Archos will demonstrate the consumer electronics show, CES 2018, which will begin January 9, 2018.
