Company Aleph Objects has developed a portable 3D printer that, thanks to the specialists in the field of aviation and innovative materials, participating in the development of special software, may be the first device that the military used to print a ready-made drone in the field.
Printer LulzBot will allow the US Marines if necessary, without print ready to fly an unmanned aerial vehicle, setting its parameters in a special Appendix. After the military press the “START” button, wait 24 hours. A day later, the aircraft will be ready to perform its tasks.
Engineers of the U.S. army and marine Corps have developed an inexpensive drones together with specialists from the University of Georgia, and now are going to use 3D printing technology to support various military compounds.
Typically, the production of the drone takes a few days to weeks, but accelerated the cycle of the UAV and is almost fully automated process, according to the authors of the concept, will allow the military to create drones even in the trenches, and as appropriate apply them for exploration, not too worried about the safety of the aircraft — the cost of one printed drone will not exceed a couple of hundred dollars.
