Two-in-one. Former chief designer, BMW introduced REDS: electric car and mobile office

The number of companies producing electric cars is continuously growing as the number of these cars. But among the mass of projects and very original. For example, not so long ago, the China Hi-Tech Group was demonstrated to the public the concept of urban electric car REDS. Interestingly, the developers have positioned REDS also as mobile working place.

It is worth noting that for the design of electric vehicles said the American Christopher Edward Bangle, which is known for having worked as chief designer of BMW Group in the period from 1992 to 2007. In 2009, Christopher founded Chris Bangle Associates, which deals, as you might guess, the developments in the field of design. 2014 China Hi-Tech Group decided to produce electric cars under the brand Redspace, for the design which will meet the former chief designer of BMW. The first prototype was called the Revolutionary Electric Dream Space (REDS).

The frame of the car is made of lightweight aluminum, the entire surface of the roof is a solar battery. The charging Jack is also available, and it is at the nose of the car. Power installed on REDS components are sufficient to ensure that he accelerated to 50 miles per hour.

In the work on the project, the author adhered to the concept of 90/10. Since, according to the designer, 90% of the time the car is standing still or coming under the control of the autopilot, so the salon can be transformed into a small room or even workplace. For greater convenience in the idle mode or the autopilot steering stand can be tipped up.

The salon has a modular design: armchairs, you can rotate, rearrange or remove unnecessary. Also the salon has a 17-inch display, which displays various information about the condition of the vehicle. In the future, the REDS plan to equip with wireless charging function and a host of other possibilities. As said by the developers, we now showed only the “alpha version”.
