The Chinese developed a 3D bio-printer for mass production of human tissue

Chinese scientists have developed a 3D bio-printer able to print human tissue. With the latest developments it is planned to mass-produce skin, cartilage and tissues of the liver.

“Mass production of medical materials, high quality and safety of printed products is what is needed for clinical application the technology of 3D bioprinting” — quoted by Xinhua Xu of Minyana, Chairman of the Board of the company Regenovo, responsible for the development of the device.

Now the technology of three-dimensional printing of tissues is not very wide, and available on the market this is too bulky, are very slow and typically capable of printing any one kind of tissue. In addition, almost all of them pass the initial tests and are not yet able to produce quality products that meet all the standards.

The dimensions of the new device is 1.6 x 1.0 x 1.9 metres, it is equipped with various nozzles that allow you to quickly and efficiently produce various fabric available biomaterials by a certain date. Thanks to the modular design, the printer is able to maintain different temperature and observe a number of other conditions in each compartment, supporting the viability of different types of cells. The quality of the cells controlled by a special scanner that is installed inside the printer.

Now the unit is also undergoing preclinical trials; therefore, the clinical application of organs printed with it, will be ready immediately. However, to use it for its intended purpose going pretty soon.
