In the UK, not just go to streamline the process of buying, registration and control drones, but are going to expand police powers, allowing law enforcement to bring down and capture the aircraft at their discretion.
Recently published a bill presented in the Parliament, proposes to allow the police don’t just order the operator to land your copter on the ground, and to shoot down the device and then to impound individual parts or the whole device, to prove the offence.
Modern laws in different countries restrict drone flights over a number of state institutions, such as prisons, office buildings and military facilities. But in some cases it is difficult to prove that the machine was flying over forbidden territory, and the presence of downed device will allow to increase the evidence base when proposing charges.
“The UK police may receive an additional opportunity to make your life easier, because the downed aircraft could not better illustrate the fact of invasion,” the authors explain.
The bill was developed taking into account earlier rules of registration and use of aircraft. Registration is subject to any copter, whose weight exceeds 250 grams, the owner needs to take a course on the operation of the apparatus and pass the safety test. Apparatus during testing is also to check the suitability. Determined and the distance that is allowed to get close to specific objects. In addition, the owner of the drone needs to use special applications that control zones of flight, pointing the owner to the probability of crossing forbidden territory.
“Now the police have a certain set of rules which it is guided in the face of unmanned aircraft, but the new bill will allow law enforcement to have a more detailed and clear legal basis for their actions,” say the authors of the bill.
Until the bill is finalized, and the final version going to introduce in the spring of 2018 — then it will open for amendments and consultation.
