The car brand Lincoln will be equipped with a HUD display instead of the windshield

Automobile Corporation Ford, one of the divisions of which is Lincoln, announced that it will equip all cars of this brand windshields with new indicators (HUD). Glass development is being done in collaboration with Continental and will be the first step for the automaker to mass deployment of full-fledged augmented reality in the box cars.

Now in order to monitor the devices of the vehicle, the driver has to look away from the road, and this, according to recent studies, considerably increases the risk of accidents. That is why Ford decided to take some parameters from the dashboard directly into the glass of a car — so the driver can control the speed of the car, follow the map, see the image from the rear view camera and much more.

The lower edge of the windshield to display information about the condition of the car, at eye level will appear AR-tip, illuminating road signs, barriers and markings. In addition, the glass can interact with the GPS, radars, sensors and other cars.

The new glass is a system of digital microthermal, which now sees developers a transitional link between the usual indicators of a windshield and a full AR-display built into the glass of a car. The first cars equipped with a developing Continent, will appear in the following, 2018. To put it yet on the Lincoln Navigator, but eventually converted and other models.
