Robots from DHL started to deliver parcels

Robotic couriers are not worse than flying drones, so many companies are testing terrestrial delivery. Recently own robotic postmen have developed and begun to experience in DHL. Robots are moving with the people, performing the role of a porters — mail bots can carry up to 150 kilograms of letters and parcels and Newspapers.

Mail bots look like regular containers one and a half meters in height, put on wheels and capable of a maximum load to move independently at speeds up to six miles per hour — about the same speed the person is travelling, going at a quick pace.

Bots have sensors that allow them to capture and carefully to avoid obstacles and people. Now the main task of robots is to follow the postmen-people and help to carry weight. But probably in the future they will be let go and some. Testing robots on the streets of Germany will last about two months.

Previously, developers of Starship Technologies has developed and begun testing robotic couriers on the streets of Estonian cities. From the German counterparts, they are characterized by small size and payload, but the kids are able to move around without human help.
