NVIDIA will release a new platform for a fully Autonomous taxi

The development of Autonomous vehicles, though, and is not developing as quickly as many would like, yet is not in place. Many companies are developing in this area, and recently, NVIDIA presented their vision of technology. Demonstrated by specialists of the company platform Drive PX Pegasus ready to enter the market in the next year and a half and will be the most advanced system for Autonomous taxi.

The announcement took place at the event GTC Europe 2017 in Germany. Drive PX Pegasus — new family of computational modules for Autonomous vehicles. NVIDIA experts say that the platform is a fundamentally new system for robotic self-driving cars.

NVIDIA managed to create a largely unique and powerful computer. Pegasus are able to quickly and effectively adapt to any unmanned vehicles and road situations. Computer from NVIDIA are capable of processing more than 320 trillion operations per second, which is much greater than any existing analogues. The fee includes two discrete accelerator for next generation Volta architecture (post Volta), who will take over most computing. The main element of the platform is a pair of single-chip systems Xavier. They are based on an 8-core CPU, an unnamed configuration with modified NVIDIA ARM architecture and powerful integrated GPU architecture Volta and 512 CUDA cores.

Other details of the platform are currently kept in secret, but we already know that the Junior model, called Pegasus Drive PX2, will be taken as the basis for the design of Autonomous control of the Tesla from Elon musk. Additionally, if testing the platform as a “driver” of an Autonomous taxi will be successful, the development of NVIDIA may be interested in other brands.
