MeTro – unique glue, wound healing

Today, there are several projects which purpose is the creation of a universal glue that can stop the bleeding or heal the wound on the human body. Different research teams approach the problem from different sides. Take scientists from Australian University in Sydney that when you create the glue used is extremely elastic proteins. The glue, called MeTro, is able to seal the wound, even on easy, but in the end speed up its healing.

The glue contains proteins that when exposed to UV light become very elastic material, much more durable than tissue organs. After spraying the wound with an adhesive MeTro completely seals it in for one minute. Gradually it dissolves, restoring and connecting the severed tissue. With this glue you can get rid of stitches or metal staples, which are commonly used in medicine today. The glue can be successfully used in emergency situations such as car accidents or war zones.

“The convenience of the MeTro formula glue is that when injected into the wound and direct contact with the tissues he immediately forms a gel, bypassing the liquid phase. He is completely non-toxic and extremely easy to use,” said Professor Nasim Annabi.

Another unique feature of glue is that it can be programmed for a specific time of resorption in the wound to give the body time to heal the wound. This is done by using special enzymes. The adhesive tube can disappear for a few hours, maybe a few months. Scientists have tested the glue on injured lungs and other internal organs of laboratory pigs, and even on the damaged arteries. In all cases, the glue managed the task just fine.
