The Discovery channel has teamed up with Google to create a unique television series, filmed for VR headsets. Viewers will be able to visit all seven continents and in the course of a 38-serial travel to meet with the people, the culture and customs of different countries in North and South America, Asia, Australia, Africa, Antarctica and Europe. The television series was called Discovery TRVLR.
The creation of the television series is directed by Sasha Unseld, who won the award for short VR film “Dear Angelica,” made for the Studio Oculus Story. Watch the series holders will be able to have a good smartphone and a suitable helmet for him, even if it is Google Cardboard. The show will be absolutely free with each new series will be published on YouTube and on the official website DiscoveryVR.com.
Virtual travel is gradually gaining popularity not only in the television format, but also used by many modern travel agencies. After all, to show the client where he will be using the VR glasses is a much more effective way to sell a ticket, rather than persuasion, and beautiful epithets. The Discovery channel seriously interested in VR technologies, and it’s definitely not their last project created in a similar vein.
