ERBIL –
The Iraqi-Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani has Tuesday announced that his compatriots in the referendum on independence ‘yes’ vote. The referendum in the north of the country Monday held against the wishes of the government in Baghdad.
Barzani said on tv only that ” yes “has won, and called on the central government to “a serious dialogue” instead of threatening with action against the regional Kurdish government. Iraq is opposed to the separation and the declaration of a fully autonomous Kurdistan. Also neighbouring countries Turkey and Iran, where many Kurds live, feel nothing.
,,We will be very hard to get, but ultimately, we win”, responded to Barzani. He called the world powers, the will of millions of people to respect.” The Kurdish station Rudaw reported an overwhelming majority for independence, possibly even over 90 percent. The final result is Wednesday expected.
