The tropical storm Maria that Sunday probably grows to hurricane, competes on the Caribbean island of Dominica. That is the latest prediction from the National Hurricane Center. If that is true then that is encouraging news for the more northern Saint Eustatius, Saba, and especially Sint Maarten, that are heavily affected by hurricane Irma.
Maria is now over 650 miles east of Barbados with wind speeds of 105 kilometers per hour. According to the NHC, that with a research aircraft on the ground, especially Guadeloupe and, to a somewhat lesser extent Martinique also in the danger zone. France gave Sunday night for Guadeloupe a orkaanwaarschuwing. The other windward islands should take account of heavy rainfall.
