At the International motor show IAA Cars 2017 held in Germany, Samsung SDI, a division of the South Korean company engaged in the development of technologies for the production of batteries, has introduced a new multifunctional modular battery system capable of increasing the current levels of reserve electric cars. As explained in the Korean company, such batteries allow you to increase the range of up to 600-700 miles, depending on how many modules of this system will be installed.
“If you wish, you can change the number of modules,” notes Samsung.
“For example, if your car premium there are 20 modules, the vehicle will have a cruising range of 600 to 700 kilometers. If the car class ordinary sedan will be installed 10-12 modules, then the car will be able to drive on a single charge up to 300 kilometers. Our offered kit is aimed primarily at attracting the attention of manufacturers, as they develop cars whose power reserve can vary significantly depending on how many modules will be included in the kit”.
The portal Electrek explains that such automakers as Nissan and GM, most often used for a prismatic cell in the batteries of their cars. Department of Samsung SDI, in turn, earlier this year began developing a new cylindrical cell standard “2170” apparently “having peeped” them from Tesla, a company that first began using them in their cars.
Any additional information about the new battery life of Samsung at the event were not reported. But even so, compared to other manufacturers figures stated reserve look impressive.
