Review headphones MEEAudio M7Pro for the rhythm section

Model M6Pro, released MEEAudio a few years ago, became a hit. Inexpensive headphones with exchangeable cable, is designed for stage monitoring, couldn’t gain popularity have a limited budget musicians. MEEAudio recently decided to upgrade your hit by releasing a more advanced version, called the M7Pro.

In the development of new modifications MEEAudio decided to take into account feedback received from musicians who are actively using M6Pro, so changes were few. First, the cable connectors were replaced with standard MMCX, because they are the most common monitoring systems. Secondly, the sound was tuningova increase bass and reduce treble because the main target audience of the model — the drummers and bass guitarists. For this reason the company decided to use a hybrid scheme with a large dynamic emitter and a single “armature”. These changes affected the price, so M7Pro sold for $ 150, which is 3 times more expensive than the M6Pro. So we’re not talking about “upgrading”, and the appearance of a more expensive model, which will coexist with the “six”.

Specifications

  • Emitters: 10 mm dynamic + balanced armature
  • Frequency range: 10 Hz – 20 kHz
  • Impedance: 16Ω @ 1 kHz
  • Sensitivity: 93±3dB/mW @ 1 kHz
  • Maximum power: 30 mW
  • Cable: 1.3 m, exchangeable with MMCX connectors, complete 3 PC.
  • Headset microphone: omnidirectional, 100 Hz to 10 kHz, -42±3dB
  • Plug: 3.5 mm TRS and TRRS

Packing and delivery

Box headphones similar in design to the packaging of the older model, but performed more strongly — with an opening flap on the front panel. Inside are the earphones themselves, a major case with zipper, a pair of wires (with headset and one without), two pairs of foam ear tips, 4 pairs of ear tips of different types, clip for cable fixing on the clothes, the adapter 6.3 mm and different papers.

In General, the package is very good, and the packaging looks quite “on the level”.

Design and comfortable wearing

The appearance of a model similar to the “younger brother” in the face of M6Pro. This small ergonomic housing is made of transparent plastic through which you can admire the innards of the model. The small size and reasonably selected form allow you to put headphones in almost any ears. The sound channel is long enough that provides sound insulation is above average, especially with mnogopaltsevy nozzles. Appearance headphones slightly spoil the interior seams and ribs, but the build quality is quite good.

Complete wire made quite simple: smooth silicone insulation will not harden in the cold, little microphonic and not prone to tangling. Near the connector sections made of memory foam, allowing you to customize the “ear-hook” as you see fit. The block splitter, and the connector is very reliable in General, reliability is the main, what would make the wires from the developers. Looks very interesting set of cable, unit with microphone made semi-transparent so you can see what’s inside. Through the use of MMCX connectors you can easily pick up a replacement cable, or Vice versa — to use the wire from this model with other headphones.

Sound

To listen following equipment was used.

  • Yulong DA9 and Resonessence Labs Concero HP in the role of DAC and amplifier
  • Apple MacBook Pro Retina 2016 as the source
  • Fidelia in the role of player
  • Lotoo PAW Gold, theBit OPUS#2 and iBasso DX200 and the role of other portable players
  • Recording high-resolution Lossless-formats (Dr. Chesky have The Ultimate Headphone Demonstration Disc and others)

Before listening headphones were heated for 48 hours, a noticeable change in the sound was observed.

Previous model in the face M6Pro differed monitor, partly bright sound, so in the course of finalizing the company was faced with the challenge of adapting the new model under interesting key consumers musicians, mostly the members of the rhythm section. Therefore, M7Pro added bass and took a peak at HF, resulted in a very V-shaped frequency response.

The bass is dominant in the sound of these headphones. Well it is good, there is normal speed, promote the transfer of texture and density, which many are so fond of, but to quantify it a lot. This is largely the “fault” of the deep bass that this model does not try to hide (because they are important to the target audience), so it seems that the bass is always present in any composition, which is not always appropriate. Although, of course, fans of powerful bass this flow can and please.

Midrange would be a very good, if it had not been regularly blocked by bass. Regarding the “sixes”, M7Pro is a step forward in terms of naturalness of transmission of vocals and instruments (just had to remove the treble peak). Good transmitted and emotions, and micronance record, but it is not always possible to hear, especially in busy music. Imaginary scene traditionally small and dark, most of the models tend to M7Pro intimate flow.

RF has absolutely nothing to do tedious, despite the small peak they are not sharp, and it is made by a quantitative reduction, and by smoothing attacks. Fortunately, MEEAudio not to push the treble somewhere very far, they are still present and balance the bass a little, however, is not sufficient to shift the flow toward the light.

Comparison, I will not lead, as M7Pro headphones with a noticeable dark colour of the sound, so almost all comparisons will be reduced to a “completely different”.

By the way, tips from the JVC Spiral Dots a little bit keep bass, making the flow M7Pro a little closer to neutral.

Compatibility

Headphones you can listen to any source, the low impedance they kompensiruet low sensitivity, and therefore smartphones will have enough volume and with powerful players, the background noise will not interfere. In General some swierklany source data the headphones are not needed, they will still play in his style.

Genre headphones, of course, drawn to those styles, where the prevalence of LF. The quality of the recording they are moderately critical, according to the traditional 10-point scale where a score of 6.

Insights

Overall MEEAudio made some monitors for musicians. M7Pro not designed for listening to music audiophiles (however, bass lovers can they come to mind), so don’t expect them to “typical” sound. Headphones made for drummers and bass players to sound exactly how it’s the musicians themselves. But for music lovers have in store MEEAudio new Pinnacle P2, which I too soon to tell.
