Facebook discovered ‘Russian advertising’

SAN FRANCISCO –

Accounts that are probably from Russia were maintained on Facebook, thousands of political ads distributed during the U.s. presidential election last year. Facebook has that Wednesday self published.

The ads refer to 470 non-authentic accounts and pages that have now been removed.

According to Facebook was translated for almost 84.000 euros to ads purchased. The content was about, for example, immigration and gay rights, but not about candidates in the elections. The head of security made the discovery Wednesday known. The internet company is working with the authorities in the investigation of interference in the American elections.
