“Robot-truck” carried the first ever cargo delivery

In 2016, we already wrote about American companies Ottomotto LLC, a subsidiary of the Corporation Uber, which together with the experts of the company Anheuser-Busch has developed a truck-robot. In October 2016, the first test of a robotic car, and in less than a year “robot-truck” for the first time delivered cargo in automatic mode.

The route of the first in the world of transportation without human intervention was 190 miles and carried out from the American town of Fort Collins through Denver to Colorado springs. This case had even been recorded in the Guinness Book of records. Autonomous truck got the name Otto. He was carrying a 16-foot trailer loaded 51 744 cans of beer. During a trip in the cab of the truck was always a driver who most of the time was in the cockpit in order to avoid emergencies, which, fortunately, did not happen. The “passenger” was in bed and not behind the wheel. He listened to music, read magazines and enjoyed the ride. At the request of Lior Ron, one of the founders of the company Ottomotto LLC,

“The first experimental transportation is an extremely successful demonstration of the technology prospects of self-driving cars-robots. Today only in the United States was 3.6 million trucks with drivers-professionals who annually “wind wheel” in the year more than 450 billion kilometres. Thanks to technology, Autonomous driving, after some time, the need for such a large number of drivers will disappear and people will be able to devote themselves to more creative and intellectual works.”
