Siberian city of Tomsk is not only rich in various architectural monuments, but also quite rightly considered one of the most scientific cities of Russia. On relatively small territory there are 15 research institutes, 9 major universities 6 business incubators and the special economic zone of technical innovation type. Tomsk scientists regularly make discoveries in various fields and develop new technologies. This time the attention of the scientific community was attracted by the invention of the researchers from Tomsk University of control systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR). They managed to create a lamp that helps people get out of depression.
Developed in Tusure the device not only allows to cope with depression, but also significantly improves human performance. Special lamp creates a flicker effect which is seen through the retina and stimulates the rhythms of the brain. Alpha waves (8-14 Hz) and normalize emotional state, and beta (14-40 Hz) is working. For successful stimulation of the brain requires a session lasting about ten minutes. If the device is not being used for its original purpose, it can serve as an ordinary lamp.
“Many people experience anxiety, decreased performance, and such a device without undue efforts will stimulate brain processes and to make life better. This is a simple and intuitive tool that requires no special action, so we are confident that he will be in demand, — said the project author, student of TUSUR Vladislav Kunegin. — Analog of our device — the apparatus of psycho-emotional correction “APEK”, which mass-produces Tomsk NII PP. Scientists have conducted tests of the device, during which the test group performed various tests, and the researchers compared the number of errors made by them under different lighting conditions (normal and challenging). During testing the participants of the experiment were removed EEG showing a functional state at the current time. Now researchers need to figure out, does the device normal lighting and daylight. The development of the project is scheduled for completion during the year, after which the lamp will go on General sale.
