Review headphones Simgot EN700 Bass — sound with style

Sometimes headphones are so beautiful that they even want to forget about the sound (well, at least in the beginning). A striking example of such and is the debut model of the company Simgot EN700. Fortunately, their stylish design is complemented with normal sound, but in our time just a “normal” sound is not enough, therefore, a model EN700 Bass.

Despite the word “bass” in the title, to call this model much not bass, bass is there just about balanced. This is all complemented by beautiful design, good package and quite democratic price. EN700 Bass are slightly more expensive than 6000 rubles, for a similar level of performance very well. By the way, recently the developers have announced more expensive model EN700 Pro, which will be equipped with a replaceable cable (but what else is there to be differences is still unknown).

Packing and delivery

Of course, phrases like “box immediately inspires a feeling of premium” sound silly, but that’s exactly what this case is. Black thick cardboard with the embossed logo is complemented by a white “jacket” with a stylish printing. Inside the box are the earphones themselves and a very dramatic case of brown leather, containing accessories: two sets of 3 pairs of nozzles, providing a different sound and brush to clean your IEM. On the one hand — nothing outstanding, on the other — with the right presentation, the company creates the right mood.

Design and comfortable wearing

The appearance EN700 is their main trump card (the sound is also good, but the design is something). Sophisticated oval aluminum housing with decorative lattice on the outer side shows that the developers have fully mastered the modern technology of metal working. EN700 Bass are available in four colors (black, grey, blue and red), and depending on the color scheme and changing the hue of the lattice, and the color of the wire. In General, all 4 modifications look quite strictly, there are no flashy colors. All assembled perfectly, without the slightest flaws.

With the hull shape, with no protruding corners, headphones, despite the large size, sits well in almost any ears and provide a comfortable fit. This model includes only behind-the-ear wearing, put them cable down will not work. The soundproofing is average, typical for the form factor. For the street they will last, but in more noisy environments, you may have to increase the volume.

Cable from EN700Bass made very carefully: he looks very impressive, and easy to operate. Twisted design, reinforced with Kevlar®, ensure high reliability and comfortable wearing. The little wire is prone to tangling and will not harden in the cold. The buildings themselves formed ear-hook headphone, but they are made of soft, no memory effect. The block splitter is reliable enough as a straight 3.5-mm connector.

Sound

To listen following equipment was used.

  • NuPrime DAC-10H and Resonessence Labs Concero HP in the role of DAC and amplifier
  • Apple MacBook Pro Retina 2016 as the source
  • Fidelia in the role of player
  • Lotoo PAW Gold, theBit OPUS#2 and iBasso DX200 and the role of other portable players
  • Recording high-resolution Lossless-formats (Dr. Chesky have The Ultimate Headphone Demonstration Disc and others)

Before listening headphones were heated for 48 hours.

The developers offer two versions of the nozzles, wherein the amount of bass and a focus on WSC. Set number one offers a focused midrange and treble, though the bass is also present in sufficient quantities. The second option of nozzles adds bass quantity, depth and physicality, oddly enough, but this version I liked more.

It is worth noting that the developers EN700 Bass reasonably giving bass emphasis, concentrating it in the middle and deeper bass, while the upper bass have a slight decline, providing normal not muted midrange. This approach distinguishes these headphones from the typical “bushenyi” models, which often are muffled midrange. Of course, on a heavily saturated artificial “bottom” of the melodies in the midrange will still be suppressed, but it is just impossible to avoid in the power of acoustics. As for quality, these Simgot sound like a “typical good Dyne”, with an emphasis on the massiveness and solidity, combining it with a normal (but not too high resolution). Of course, we should not expect hlestkost and sverkhdlinnoi reinforcing emitters, but there are also no dryness inherent in the latter.

MIDs slightly flattened to maintain the big picture “warm” sound. EN700 Bass — not exactly the model for fans to listen to micronance their horse — holistic submission with a slight veiling of micropetala (which most likely only the flaws in the recording). The midrange resolution is also not super high, but the macro-dynamics is studied qualitatively, thanks to the instruments and vocals sound natural, and “additive” lower registers give the sound effect. Imaginary scene a little more than average in width and slightly less than the average in depth. Study the plans in depth, slightly blurred, but nothing critical for this price range.

RF very accurate, they are not sharp and are not aggressive despite the slight accent. Of course, fans of “the rich” RF, transmitting all the nuances of sophisticated tools like non-aggressive will not like it, but most people still prefer quality sound. “Top” this model is a good resolution, although the attack and decay compared to the expensive models lose detail. However, those who value the naturalness of the RF transfer, you still have to look at more expensive hybrid or reinforcement models. HF have EN700 Bass fit well in the overall “flow” of the model, providing a balanced sound without drawing attention to themselves moments. Also, if you want a more accentuated practice attacks on high — frequency features of the nozzle from the “set #1”, due to the additional energy in the field wsch/lower treble, they just add speed RF attacks.

It is clear that in this price range there are a great many other models, but I’m just not able to compare EN700 Bass with everything, so I’ll just confine myself to a few popular headphones that can be considered the “reference point”. Since each comparison takes time — the list will be short.

Ostry KC06A. Headphones have become a legend in its category, has a more aggressive treble, slightly worse emotion on midrange and large “covering” woofers for midrange. In General, it can be seen Simgot as a step forward after Ostry, although I would recommend to do this step immediately higher segment.

Dunu Titan 1. Kind of headphones are the opposite, with a fairly pronounced VSC and treble, and also less massive and smooth flow. Titan 1 have better detail, but it has to pay for criticality to the material source, and less “spectacular” (but more accurate) sound.

12 Meze Classic. These headphones are great treble emphasis, so their supply seems to be more V-shaped, but actually it is not. On the background of Meze EN700 Bass also has a more substantial bass and a more cohesive midrange.

Compatibility

Headphones are efficient enough for use with smartphones/tablets, despite the absence of a headset, but in fact for maximum disclosure they need a player around upper-elementary or lower-intermediate level like the Fiio X3-2, N3 Shanling or Cayin M2s.

Genre versatile, provided that the owner prefers a smooth one-piece flow with a slight bias to warmth. To my ears, like the presentation, especially winning jazz, Blues and classic rock. The quality of the recordings headphones rather tolerant on a 10-point scale where a score of 6.

As usual — several tracks for example

Juno Reactor — Zwara. Of course, the review bassy headphones could not do without a good electronic music, and Juno Reactor is one of the main candidates for this role. The heroes of this review deal with this melody is just great, deep and dynamic bass immerses the listener in a light trance, and detailed treble and punchy midrange emphasize the main line of melody.

Kent Poon — April in Paris. Perhaps, a vivid example of the “jazz collections Starbucks”, which criticized the main character of Whiplash — melody light, not annoying, something “pop”, harmoniously combining piano and horn party. EN700 Bass and then show their best side, perfectly playing all the instruments and adding weight to the background bass.

Bob Marley — Stir it Up. I have long wondered what kind of style you can choose for these headphones, and then it dawned on me that a relaxed and positive vibe dub is exactly what you need for this model. Of course, EN700 Bass show themselves at the height of tight bass, clean vocals, and no annoying treble is exactly what you need for this music.

Insights

An interesting model that combines a stylish look with good sound and affordable price. Moreover, if this segment is to find comparable in sound headphones you can, that’s by design, perhaps, EN700 Bass are clear leaders.
