The MIG-35 is a supersonic lightweight fighter, which is the transitional link between the MIG-29 and the fifth generation fighter. Of the key features of the aircraft, the authors say increased flight range, increased points of suspension arms and reduced radar signature.
The first test aircraft took place in January 2017 in the suburbs on the industrial base “MiG”. The results of testing the experts came to the conclusion that the aircraft meets the claimed characteristics and can become a good replacement for the MIG-29.
According to General Director of Corporation “MiG”, now the developers of the aircraft are testing individual modules and systems, then the MIG-35 are waiting for two more years of tests, including flight, which is expected to take only about two years — a short time due to the fact that the prototype of the fighter is already good run-in. Serial production supersonic fighter are going to start in 2019.
“Now the Corporation “MiG” has several contracts for the supply of MIG-35 VKS RF, so first of all, planes will be produced for their own needs, but by 2021 it is planned to sign several international contracts”, — said the head of “MiG” Ilya Tarasenko.
