The owner bought a Volvo creates a flying car startup

The Chinese Corporation Geely, which owns Volvo car, just recently bought a promising startup Terrafugia, the experts of which are developing flying cars, reports the newspaper South China Morning Post. Two years ago, Terrafugia developed a prototype of the aircraft, which is a hybrid car and plane, but before completion of the company still requires a lot of money. This is the problem in a startup plan to solve with the help of Geely — the Corporation has clearly enough money.

While many other companies are experimenting with futuristic concepts, Terrafugia rely on realism. Their aircraft looks quite normal for auto-plane and can fly about 500 miles at a speed of about 130 kilometers per hour.

In addition, the aircraft will be equipped with a system of Autonomous driving and flying, allowing the pilot to insure and protect passengers.

Now the developers are trying to get a license to own a flying vehicle, and this means that once all the formalities are settled, Terrafugia will be able to legally produce and sell a small flying car that can be classified as a light sport aircraft.
