Samsung is investing billions to increase production of memory chips

In the industry there is an acute shortage of memory chips, say leading experts. Fast-paced Internet of things automotive intelligent systems, game consoles, thousands coming every year smartphones and tablets – they all need memory. And just this very memory is now on the market sorely lacking. The South Korean tech giant Samsung is trying to rectify the situation and strongly invests tens of billions of dollars in increased production of scarce components.

Manual Samsung decided to invest in expanding production capacity of 30 trillion Korean won, equivalent to 26.1 billion. The money will be spent on the development of the factory of the company in the Korean city of Pyeongtaek from 2017 to 2021. The world’s largest factory producing memory chips. Today it is able to produce 64-layer V-NAND chips of the fourth generation. Additional 6 trillion won (5.2 billion dollars) will be invested in the expansion of the factory in Hwaseong. In addition, this factory is equipped with the latest technology.

Samsung is also considering expanding production capacity in China. It is not excluded the building of the second factory of the company in the territory of that state. The first Chinese factory Samsung is currently running at full capacity. The South Korean economy is heavily dependent on the success of the company, which is why the government is trying all possible ways to support the work of Samsung. Thus, the country receives not only the flow of funds to the Treasury, but also more jobs for the population. It is not excluded that in the near future the company will also build a new plant to produce OLED displays, which are also lacking on the market.
