China began building the world’s first “Forest city”

Near the urban district of Liuzhou, the Chinese province of Guangxi has started building the first so-called “Forest city”. The construction of the new settlement is part of a project by the Chinese government to combat environmental pollution. The city itself and its infrastructure developed by the Italian design team of “Stefano Boeri Architetti”, already noted in the global market with their environmentally friendly projects. The population of the futuristic city will be about 30,000 people.

The city will be completely covered with greenery. In total it is planned to plant nearly 1 million plants of 100 different species, 400,000 of which will be trees. This “bed” will be able to absorb and process nearly 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide and up to 57 tons of other substances that pollute the environment, producing annually about 900 tons of oxygen.

In addition to providing new housing, “Forest city” will contribute to reduce the average temperature of the ambient air, improve its quality, will create antisodomy barrier and improve the situation with biodiversity in the region.

The city will be fully self-sufficient. It is planned to build the infrastructure for the production of renewable energy – geothermal and solar.

“The Forest city” it is planned to construct all necessary not only for ecological but also a comfortable life. There will erect a commercial and residential area, will build places for recreation, hospital and two schools. The city will be linked to Liuzhou high-speed highway, which will move the electric cars.

As reported in the urban municipality of Liuzhou, under the “Forest city”, a dedicated area of 175 hectares. The city will be located along the river Lucan occurring in the Northern part of the urban district of Liuzhou.

The project “green city” is a high priority for China. If all goes well, then similar to the “forest city” can build in other parts of the country, and possibly in other parts of the world. In China, the construction will be completed somewhere in the year 2020.
