In Holland “printed” bridge of reinforced concrete

Lately becoming more common industrial 3D printers. They successfully printed the details of the various mechanisms and elements of houses. But scientists from the Netherlands have come up with another application of 3D printing technology. In the Netherlands, the technical University developed a technology to print the design of reinforced concrete. Parts created in this way will be used for the construction of a Bicycle bridge in a town in the province of North Brabant.

A new system developed by Dutch experts, is a special machine with a moving arm. The manipulator is equipped with a device for feeding thick layer of the mixture based on cement, and steel cable, which is part of the reinforced material. During the preliminary stage of preparation, scientists have printed and collected on the reduced copy of a new bridge in the scale 1:2. Further, during a series of experiments, the assembled design tested load 2 tons, estimating the deformation and material behavior.

Now run the printing process are already full of details for future construction. As scientists assure, the entire print cycle is not more than two months, and the Assembly of the bridge will begin in September of this year. It should be noted that the Dutch experts will not be the first of its kind. In December 2016 in Madrid opened printed from a cement pedestrian bridge, whose length is 12 meters, width — 2. It was the first bridge that is created from printed on a 3D printer of concrete.
