WASHINGTON –
The Republican chairman of the senate committee for foreign affairs in the US the sale of weapons to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other Gulf states to provisionally stop it. Senator Bob Corker said Monday that weapon sales are not accounted for now, the tensions between Qatar and other countries in the region are sustained.
Corker said that the crisis must first be resolved. “It would be a productive step as those countries with each other around the table to sit down,” said the senator.
The fight between the countries is the US a thorn in the eye. Washington is an ally of Saudi Arabia, but also has a large base in Qatar.
