Offender from Molenbeek had bomb

BRUSSELS –

Brussels has escaped a major assault. The man who Tuesday night a bomb exploding on Brussels-Central had a much heavier explosive filled with nails, in and of itself.

That exploded not by the resolute action of soldiers that the man in record time turned off. The man was shot.

The district, right against the central body, is known as a hotbed of terror. There are links with the attacks in Paris in november 2015, and with that in Brussels and Zaventem on march 22, last year, committed by radical muslims. After Paris announced Interior minister Jambon all that the area ‘cleaned up’ had to be. Despite the fact that since then a lot has happened, it remains a probleemwijk.

The terreurniveau in Brussels remains unchanged at three, the second highest. It means that there is no evidence for new attacks. In Brussels and in Antwerp, patrol since the attacks in Paris 1.5 years ago, military stations and guard important buildings.

Recently there was more and more criticism because of the ‘boring’ work of the military, which heavily draws on the deployability of the armed forces. That debate will, however, after the resolute intervention of last night suddenly stilled.

The Central Station is this morning around 8 o’clock again opened.
