Drone with defibrillator beats ambulance

STOCKHOLM –

A drone with a defibrillator to someone in cardiac arrest, it is much faster on the spot than the traditional emergency services, such as an ambulance. Trials have shown that a drone an average of 16 minutes faster over a distance of approximately 3 miles. This reduces the chance of survival significantly.

The medical university Karolinska institute in Stockholm has the tests in the Swedish capital to run. A cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death, where literally every second counts. With every minute after a cardiac arrest goes on, it increases the chance of survival by 10 percent. That chance is after about 12 minutes reduced to zero, so reports the Journal of the American Medical Association Tuesday.

In Sweden, there is a drone developed a defibrillator on the spot. This easy to operate device can be by means of an electric shock to the heart of a patient in motion.
