Tomorrow morning, former FBI Director James Comey will testify to Congress about President Trump and his shenanigans with Russia. It’s going to be carried live on every TV station. But if you’re in Washington DC, you might think about swinging by the Union Pub. It’s opening early and they’re giving away a free drink to everyone in the bar every time President Trump tweets about Comey.
The bar is opening at 9:30am and the hearing is scheduled to start at 10am Eastern time, which may be a bit early for people who don’t take drinking seriously. But given the shit that President Trump has put America through in the past six months, I imagine everyone could use a stiff drink at all hours these days.
According to Union Pub’s Facebook page, the offer is available from 9:30am until the testimony is over. If somehow Comey keeps going until after 4pm, they’re going to cut everybody off, which is probably for the best. You’ll be drinking on your own dime after that.
A call and email to the bar weren’t returned this morning, but we’ll update this post when we hear back. The big questions we still have: Is there a limit to the number of drinks in the allotted time? What kind of drinks are we talking about here? Well drinks? Beer? Wine coolers? And if Trump declares martial law over Twitter or creates some other crazy distraction, does that count as tweeting about the hearing?
