EU wants half have less serious injuries in traffic

LUXEMBOURG –

The number of people seriously injured due to road accidents in the European Union in 2030 are halved compared to 2020. That goal allowed the 28 EU transportministers Thursday in Luxembourg. There are now annually about 135,000. Especially for cyclists and pedestrians need more attention.

In 2010, it was agreed the number of road deaths in ten years to halve. That is not likely to succeed. The movement demanded last year 25.500 lives, 19 percent less than in 2010. The social costs for all road traffic victims are estimated at more than 100 billion euros per year.
