The Red Cross is with man and power to the work in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to the victims of the cyclone Mora to. The aid organisation reported on Tuesday that in Sri Lanka the death toll by natural disasters has risen to at least 177.
How many people on the other side of the bay of Bengal in Bangladesh perished, is not yet known. The area around Cox’s Bazar, south of Chittagong, is the most affected. In this region also live again to 70,000 refugees from Myanmar under difficult circumstances. They are completely dependent on humanitarian aid.
The Red Cross has over the last few days in Bangladesh, a million people to evacuate and to prepare for Mora. Before that, they were of 55,000 volunteers in rope. Their efforts are also desperately needed as the storm plague has run its course. There is major damage to houses and harvest is expected.
