Egypt restricted the work of ngos

Egypt has Monday, a new law was published that the work of non-governmental organisations strongly curtailed. The ngos may be only social or development work to do and will have to comply with the “development plan of the state.” Donations of around 500 euro or more must be notified in advance and approved.

The estimated 46.000 ngos in Egypt have one year to meet the new requirements. If not than they will be by the court dissolved. In violation of the law allows a maximum of five years imprisonment or a 50,000 euro fine. Domestic and foreign groups may not make political activities and nothing to do what the national security, public order, public morality or public health in jeopardy.

Human rights activists say the new law, the ngos, the work is almost impossible. The government accuses mensenrechtengroepen there for a very long time of money from abroad to get to disorder to create.
