Banzai! Takuma Sato wins the Indy 500

The happy Japanese man now even happier!

Finally a great price for The Great Promise of the land of the rising sun. The ex-F1 driver (2002 – 2008) on 28 may with the Indy 500, finally a big prize. It is the second time that Sato a race win in IndyCar, the last time was in 2013 in Long Beach. The last race he won was during the Masters of Formula 3 at Zandvoort in 2001…

Takuma Sato started from the fourth starting position, a place for team-mate Fernando Alonso. In one way or another, there is a bully trying to Honda-engines to tamper with the Spaniard, because this can no longer a coincidence. 21 laps from the end (of the 200 rounds) went for the Honda engine. Again. It was anyway an eventful race, with particular thanks to the terrifying crash of Scott Dixon and Jay Howard (both of there unscathed from came). The race was then stopped.

Alonso did it though very pretty. He rode constantly in the top 10 and schroomde not experienced Indy drivers to catch up. A podium finish seemed so within reach, but as so often with the Spanish Monobrauw: it shouldn’t be a ploffende engine result. Another team-mate of Alonso, Ryan-Hunter Reay was also already out with a broken Honda engine. Small boost for Honda and Sato also had a Honda engine. The full result is as follows:
