Flying there this year, someone is the port in?
The are wonderful times for the racing fanatic. This weekend there were no less than three top events on the calendar: the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 hours of Nürburgring. If you come back tomorrow to work, it is easy to be co-lovers to identify. Which are all quite pale because they the entire weekend glued to the tube have been, while all the other people on the beach.
The drivers themselves also have the time to get a suntan skin. On the Côte d’azur it is already the whole weekend, great price. Actually we find that it is secretly a bit of a shame, because the spektaculairste races in Monaco we see usually when it spits. For example the victory of Olivier Panis in 1996.
But also in dry weather, this GP is a huge challenge, especially on the mental plane. For two hours as hard as possible through narrow streets to blow up, knowing that a small mistake the end of your race means. Even Senna happened to such a mistake ever in 1988, when he went out from won position. That an accident in a small corner sits you can also see if you have a piece of travel with Hamilton.
The start
Just before the start, still a cool moment between Button and Alonso. The Spaniard just call in from Indianapolis and want Button good luck in the race. He adds that Jense is good for his car. Jenson makes a joke:
“I urineer in your chair.”
Hilarity abounds.
This moment is immediately the most spectacular aspect to the start. Everyone is a good road up to and including number eight, there are no overtaking. Bottas threatened briefly at the inside of Vettel but chose eggs for his money. Kimi dives from the pole as the first bend 1 in. Behind the top-10 wins, Hamilton is a place and moves to P12.
Wehrlein and Button try to be clever by skipping to a stop. That way they won’t need later in the race, not the other bandencompound to use and they can perhaps win in the event of a Safety Car. In the pit they come, however, something too close to each other. Button complains over the radio like a seasoned veteran it is fitting for an ‘Unsafe Release’. With success, because Wehrlein gets a strafje of five seconds.
Mid Race:
It is all round 17 before there will be something significant happening. Kvyat reports on the radio that the other Hulkenberg oil loses. He is right as the TV crew the yellow Renault, presents a picture with a smoking tail. That can’t be good long term. And indeed, Hulkenberg put not much later, R. S. 17 to the side. According to the team is going to have a broken bake, but it looked suspiciously like a broken moteur.
Something for the half of the race is in the pitstopfase. Max is told that he is exactly the opposite to do of Bottas.
“Box opposite Bottas.”
So, that means, if Bottas to doorkarren, as Bottas remains outside to come in. Bottas stays out, so Max goes inside. The Fin reacts to the next round and is just for Max back on to the track. Ricciardo seems, however, the smiling third of this story, because he remains on the job and drive some very quick laps. When all is said and done, takes out Ricciardo both Bottas as a Max. Max is not very happy:
“What a f*cking disaster”
At the front of the field happens something similar. Were times first comes to the inside, but Vettel will drive a few laps. The overcut works, because after his stop comes Vettel for were times back on to the track. Echoes of Michael Schumacher and Barrichello.
After this Vorentscheidung in favor of the German, let Kimi directly a hole to fall compared to Vettel. The Fin seems to have come up with a reason that there are not more worried than the second place after this blow. In the meantime, there is some annoyance between Perez and his team. Perez was last year on the podium in Monaco and want to have a good results. His engine is however too hot, and the team says he is there what to do. But Perez, it is don’t agree. Like Louis van Gaal would say:
“The Death or the Gladiolus!”
Vettel is heading quietly in one of his easiest victories ever. Behind it there is a little bit of excitement to place two between were times and Ricciardo, although were times in probably just the speed in check knowing that Ricciardo still won’t come by. But then suddenly! Safety Car!
Herintreder Button has Wehrlein tapped on the place where Senna to the wall, to bounce back in 1988. The accident itself is not so special, but Wehrlein’s car remains with the German still in it, slanting against the wall.
The Medical Car, is moving out to the unfortunate driver to help. With united forces he is from the wreck removed.
After we have the Sauber driver made it all the way to see hop we can again focus on the situation in the race. The entire field is now pushed into each other, so perhaps we still have an exciting end of the race. Red Bull is clever, because it has Verstappen to called in for new tyres without losing the positions to have lost. Maybe he can be on fresh rubber yet what to do. Less smart is Ericsson behind the Safety Car, because he sends his Sauber out of solidarity with Wehrlein the wall.
If the SC disappears, the eyes are focused on Max. It is, however, precisely Bottas who is very close to Ricciardo creeps. Here brews a nice battle for place three. Ricciardo has all the luck in the world as he the guardrail hits in Sainte Devote but his way can continue.
That happiness has Vandoorne. Our zuiderbuur seemed on his way to his and McLaren’s first point of the year. But after a light touch with Perez pushes he off the track in turn one. In addition to the Sauber’s are now both McLaren’s out of the race.
Finish:
Perez has a mission. After the bit against Vandoorne is Kvyat his next victim. He dismisses the Rus in the flank and robs him of at least two points. In addition, robs and he me of points in the manager game, which is unforgivable. Punish that man. Oh no, wait, I also have the chassis of Force India.
People a little bit give, however, seems to be the only way to improve on this circuit. Even Max on fresh tyres can do nothing against Bottas. Everyone drives so in a train to the finish line. The new wide cars with a lot of downforce to make it simply impossible to catch up. The successful Ferrari so finally again to win in Monaco.
Vettel takes the victory and a larger lead over Hamilton in the championship. Were times will be disappointed with P2. Ricciardo takes his second podium of the year at P3, Bottas, Verstappen, Sainz, and Hamilton. The Briton, after the fourteenth place in the qualifying of yesterday, not even very satisfied with the result.
