The first prototypes of the robots designed to work outside the International space station, will be presented by developers from the Central research and experimental design Institute of robotics and technical Cybernetics (TSNII RTK) by 2019, and 2021, the Federal space Agency plans to send them to the ISS for work, according to “Izvestia” with reference to the press service of the RTC.
The robots will be controlled remotely, so using them will help to alleviate the challenges faced by astronauts in outer space.
According to the representative of RTC, now experts are preparing the project documentation, before the end of the year planned to finish everything, and in 2018 to start to create prototypes. By 2020, the developers plan to begin integrated testing.
Robots can move, consolidate and produce the capture of cargo and equipment outside the ISS and on space vehicles. The manipulators plan to equip electrical connectors, with the help of which robots will be able to recharge. Another feature of the robots is a modular design, which allows you to quickly replace failed components in space.
