Scientists have discovered a dinosaur tooth from the family of ceratopsids (and it is, for example, is very popular in mass culture Triceratops) on the territory of the state of Mississippi in the United States. It is argued that this discovery may turn the idea of the Earth’s past.
Initially it was assumed that the Triceratops is a herbivore creatures which lived exclusively in Asia and in Western North America. However, judging by the discovery, they lived in the Eastern part of North America.
Scientists have suggested that the 68-66 million years ago North America was not divided into two parts, as previously assumed, so the Triceratops was free to roam the land. According to the generally accepted hypothesis is that the Western and Eastern part of North America at that time divided the inland sea.
