Open new genes responsible for the development of coronary heart disease

As you know, for the development of many diseases responsible our genetics. And scientists from all over the world already not the first year engaged in research of the human genome in order to successfully detect, treat and even prevent the development of various diseases. And, according to the publication Medical Xpress, a group of researchers from Stanford, Cambridge and the University of Pennsylvania together, we managed to identify 15 new genes responsible for the development of coronary heart disease.

Coronary heart disease (CHD), according to the world health organization, is one of the first places causes of death on our planet. With its development linked more than a dozen genes, and they are still not open. To identify new sites of the genome a group of scientists had to perform genetic maps of more than 250,000 people, including about 88 000 suffered from coronary heart disease. Found in 15 genes, variations were identified in small stretches of DNA that differ by only one nucleotide. This section was responsible for pathological processes, developing in the vascular endothelium, as well as developing smooth muscle cells of the vascular wall and the process of blood clotting. According to the head of research group Dr. Danish Salhin,

“Coronary heart disease often affects several family members and partly is of genetic nature. We have conducted the most extensive research in the study of coronary diseases, which involved patients from different regions of the world: Europe, Africa, South and East Asia. The data obtained will allow us to start working on identifying biological processes that are determined by these genes, and to improve therapy in the future.”
