Diesel will lose its dominant spot in European car sales

The European sales of april of this year are striking.

In the month of april were from 1.22 million cars sold in Europe. A decrease of 7.1 percent in comparison with april 2016. However, this is not the most striking. The figures from JATO Dynamics shows that the sales of diesel by as much as 15 percent plummeted. This is diesel is no longer the most dominant fuel type when it comes to European car sales.

The fuel represented 46 percent of the car sales in april. The research firm blames dieselschandalen for the declining sales. In addition, there is a rise in the sales of hybrid and electric cars. The netherlands scored much better in terms of overall sales. In the fourth month of this year were 29.043 cars sold. An increase of 5.1 percent.

Looking at the best-selling car brands the top five from Volkswagen, Renault, Ford, Peugeot and Mercedes. All of these brands sold more copies. The biggest downer was for Volkswagen. The German car manufacturer was allowed to 13,9 percent less to sell a note.
