Nowadays nobody is surprised by the postponement of the release of any games for a year, and then for a couple of years. With the rapid development of technologies, complexity of graphics engines, as well as with the increase in production state AAA projects up to several hundred people, publishers have to spend additional time to Polish their games. And companies like Rockstar Games, and is can’t afford to lose face in front of millions of fans. That is why the developers of the game Red Dead Redemption 2 has decided to take additional time for completion of their Western.
First reaction to such news is always anger some fans of the publishing house, who throughout the long years of waiting the release of this game. In fact, the release was postponed to the spring of 2018, just something for a few months in advance, but it was enough to cause the righteous anger of thousands of people. Employees publisher Rockstar Games assured players that they are simply vital for more time to provide their fans the best experience possible from future games. And, knowing the sensitivity of the Rockstar quality of their games, that statement truly believe.
The market immediately reacted to the postponement of the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, and shares of Take-Two, which owns Rockstar Games, has immediately lost 9% of its value. The first part of Red Dead Redemption came out in 2010 for consoles Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but never reached the PC. Although I, like many other people close to the gaming industry, I am confident that the game will release in HD for modern platforms in the near future. This game, by the way, was not the first in the series, as the franchise is rooted in 2002 when for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox released game Red Dead Revolver.
Change the games, among other things, will allow developers to maximally adapt its product to two new consoles – PlayStation 4 Pro and Project Scorpio. For PC the game is also sure to come, but, as usual, a bit later than the release for game consoles. It is normal practice for Rockstar since they first squeeze the most money out of console gamers and then release a PC version of the game, without fear of incurring losses due to piracy. Of course, creating a version of the game for the PC is associated with additional difficulties, as you have to deal with a huge number of possible configurations of hardware. It also imposes temporary restrictions on development.
