State of emergency in Sanaa declared to cholera

The state of emergency on Sunday named in the Yemeni capital Sanaa due to a cholera epidemic. The outbreak of the lethal infectious disease has been dozens of deaths. That have the authorities in the city, where the Houthi movement is the ruler, announced.

According to the Yemeni ministry of public Health, there is a unprecedented disaster”. The health care in Yemen for more than two years of civil war are already pretty deteriorated, the outbreak. Only a few healthcare facilities in the capital city function and two third of the population has no access to clean drinking water. Cholera spreads through contaminated water.

Since april 27, are 51 people died from cholera. Again, more than 2700 people are probably infected. Nearly sixty have been certainly infected with cholera. The world health organization says that in the area where the risk of a cholera outbreak is large, about 7.6 million people live.
