Greeks bring back migrants back

ATHENS –

Greece has together with the organization about the EU’s external border guards (Frontex) since Wednesday 71 migrants returned to Turkey. The returned refugees came from the islands of Chios, Lesvos and Kos.

The return of refugees to Turkey stems from an agreement between the EU and Ankara. In march last year, it was agreed that Turkey illegally to Greece travelled persons back. The EU would then be just as many refugees from Turkey in a legal way. Ankara would also in other ways be compensated for, as with the abolition of the visa requirement for Turks.

Agreement

The Greek police on Saturday reported that now 1165 people on the basis of the European Turkish agreement are reduced. On the Greek islands in the eastern Aegean Sea are still some 14,000 refugees or migrants stranded.
