It will not be?
The Swiss newspaper Blick brings Bernie in connection with an acquisition of Force India. The Indian team won last year the best result in its history by being the fourth to finish in the world CHAMPIONSHIP in the constructors. However, it is no secret that team boss Vijay Mallya has for some time been in trouble. Recently he was even arrested in London.
Autocar spent last week surfaced that a group of investors interested in the team and to want to be baptized to Brabham. There would be big plans for a supercar for the street to build under the brand name, following the example of McLaren. That kind of wild plans you hear, however, even more often in the corridors, but it seemed to us at that moment, little concrete.
Now the story however, is more interesting. F1-connoisseurs will know that Bernie Ecclestone in the early ancient times, team owner of Brabham. From 1972 to 1987 it was used by the Brit in the team and he had considerable success. Directly into memory jump the Brabham BT46 Fan Car that Niki Lauda, the Swedish Grand Prix won in 1978 and the BT52 with fire-breathing BMW-bomb in the tail that Piquet became champion in 1983.
That Ecclestone has not yet finished with the F1 showed previously when he seemed to be with an alternative championship. That exercise was, however, soon fired. That Bernie Chase Carey of Liberty Media weggepromoveerd is to a erebaantje without content is the old Brit reportedly total not good. In Bahrain and in Sochi, he was also prominent in the paddock. Just chatting with Putin, et cetera, you know.
Stumbling block for the acquisition is currently, the amount that Vijay wants to have for the team. Vijay and his business partner Subrata Roy want, reportedly, around 250 million Euro. The group of interested people think of a rather small 200 million. Some of the money Bernie would be so welcome. We are curious to know whether the 86-year-old the tractor an overhaul.
