Chinese online store stopped selling Xiaomi smartphones in Russia

The scandal surrounding the purchase of Russian users of Xiaomi smartphones in overseas online shopping continues to gain momentum. Quite a well-known Chinese online store Gearbest announced that it would temporarily suspend sales of Xiaomi smartphones in Russia.

Gearbest explains its decision by the fact that the company is “Smart orange” organized for the inclusion of the whole range of Xiaomi smartphones in the ESCALATOR (the customs register of objects of intellectual property). “Smart orange” is the official Russian retail distributor of Xiaomi. As a result of hit of Xiaomi smartphones in TROIS, custom produces a mass withdrawal of parcels with smartphones Xiaomi, returning them to the sellers.

And customs seize the parcel, including purchases of ordinary individuals for personal use. According to documents cited by the resource “Roskomsvoboda”, this approach is contrary to the law, which only restricts the import of devices for the purpose of resale. However, from April 2017 the number of such returns of parcels stores continues to grow.

Based on the current conditions, the administration Gearbest has decided to stop sales of Xiaomi smartphones in Russia as long as the situation with customs is not clear. Starting from 5 may, the site lost the ability to order smartphones, but already ordered devices will be shipped to customers. Also the cost of packages now limited to $ 50. In case of problems with delivery, it is recommended to contact the technical support Gearbest.

From the point of view of “Smart orange” product imported without the consent of the owner, whose interests in Russia is “Smart orange” is counterfeit, because it violates the exclusive trademark rights of the copyright holder.
