A former DDR minister in the late 80’s responsible for the shooting of refugees to the west wanted to, died. Former Defense minister Heinz Kessler died at age 97 in Berlin, reported German media on Thursday.
Kessler swung from 1985 to 1989, the scepter of the East German ministry of Defence. Because under his reign the people at the border have been shot, he was after the fall of the Berlin Wall up to 7.5 years in prison when sentenced. He was that the sentence only in part due to health problems. Kessler has always denied that he was guilty of the death of the refugees. He also continued the socialist state to defend.
