Samsung could overtake Intel and become the chip maker No. 1

The South Korean tech giant Samsung is aiming for a leading manufacturer of microprocessors in the world, which is currently owned by the American Corporation Intel. For Koreans it would be a serious win, because Intel is in the lead for the last 24 years. Experts from research company IC Insights is predicting that to happen this rearrangement can in the current, 2017.

On hand Samsung is the fact that Intel in recent years continues diligently to maintain high prices on its processors, and gradually begins to strain not only end users, but also those companies that are forced to buy from Intel chips for the production of its electronics. In terms of cost of production of the Korean manufacturer much more friendly, and therefore, the volume of orders continues to grow at an impressive pace.

If you believe the predictions of analysts, already in the second quarter of this year, Intel revenue will amount to 14.4 billion dollars, while Samsung in the same segment of the market will be able to earn 14.9 billion. And we are talking exclusively about the production of microprocessors. For the first quarter of the chips brought Koreans 13.5 billion, which is 4.1% more than in the same period last year. Intel also earned for the first 3 months of 2017 14.2 billion, ahead of Samsung.

The Samsung subsidiary responsible for the production of microprocessors, to date, is the main source of income of the company. Now the South Korean company took 11.8 per cent of the market, and Intel continues to dominate in its 15.9 per cent. But if current trends continue in the future, Koreans will inevitably overtake their American counterparts. Not long ago, Samsung has invested $ 1 billion into production of a new factory in Texas Austin, and in the next year will invest another 12.5 billion in creation of similar industries around the world.
