As stated by the press service of the state Corporation “rostec” holding “shvabe” together with the specialists of Volga state University of telecommunications and Informatics (PHUTI) in the framework of enhanced cooperation plans to create a fiber of an entirely new class for use in the field of communications. In addition, the new fiber will have several unique characteristics.
At a recent meeting, representatives of shvabe and PHUTI already discussed the prospects of scientific and technical cooperation and came to an agreement on the development of the quartz multimode optical fibers with the involvement of young scientists and agreed on requirements to technical requirements. New fiber optic joint production of “the Schwab” and PHUTI will be on technology 100/125 µm, and also have a special gradient index profile, which will be several times to increase the bandwidth of communication networks for various purposes in the field of telecommunications and information and communication technology.
The development is planned to be used as connecting lines, compact indoor, airborne, and industrial networks of different purpose-oriented multigigabyte data transfer rate. “Compared to a typical single-mode and multimode optical fibers existing international standards develop a new class of optical fiber will have a number of advantages. The first samples are planned to be manufactured in the first half of 2018.”
