Brussels wants to phasing out controls borders

BRUSSELS –

Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway may, parts of its internal borders for six months, continue to check, but they must go down. That the European Commission proposes to the member states. This is the last time that the extension is legally possible.

Instead, there must be “proportionate policing” and more police cooperation in border regions. This allows threats, according to the commission more effectively and more flexibly be coped with, for example, through joint threat assessments and patrols in international trains.

Because that risk still exists, Brussels renewal “as a precaution” is justified. At the last renewal, voted in a minority of especially Eastern European countries.
